Sisters Informing Sisters about Topics on AIDS

 
 
 
The SISTA Project is a social-skills training intervention aimed at reducing HIV sexual risk behavior among African American women. It consists of five 2-hour sessions delivered by peer facilitators in a community-based setting. The sessions are gender specific and culturally relevant and include behavioral skills practice, group discussions, lectures, role-playing, prevention video viewing, and take-home exercises.
 
The SISTA Project consists of five weekly 2-hour sessions. The goal and activities of the sessions are:
Session 1: Ethnic/Gender Pride
Session 2: HIV/AIDS Education:
Session 3: Assertiveness Skills Training:
Session 4: Behavioral Self-Management:
Session 5: Coping Skills:

Vision Leadership Institute successfully trained 63 young women throughout South Carolina including young women from Benedict College, South Carolina State University and Claflin University.    Vision Leadership Institute will continue to provide technical assistance to the young women that recieved the initial training.
