Grants for Youth Leadership Programs

Youth leadership is important especially in politics, business and nonprofit sectors. After all, when leaders grow old or when their terms of leadership expire, they need to pass on their leadership and let the younger folks lead the organization they belong to. Sometimes, however, people organizations need grants for youth leadership programs because the organization does not have enough money to cover the cost of these leadership programs. If they will just let the young people go on without receiving the training they need, when they finally take over the organization and become leaders, they will fail!

If you are in the United States, there are a number of grant-giving bodies and foundations that willingly offer grants for youth leadership programs.

One of them is the Starbucks Foundation. It supports organizations that help strengthen diversity and advocate for literacy in various communities. Starbucks has grown to become a very big company, not just in America but all over the world. As such, it has become important for the organization to dedicate some part of its revenue and profit to the alleviation of illiteracy and the promotion of diversity in the workplace.

The Columbus Foundation Community Grant also provides grants. But you will need to write a proposal to them. This foundation actually encourages middle school students to come up with a project plan that will help solve a problem in their community. Its intention is to mix Math, Technology and Science and nurture creativity in students as they apply these skills in solving community problems. Those who win the competition gets a $25,000-dollar grant plus US Saving bonds.

LeadAmerica Foundation Classroom Grant. This grant body also provides assistance to middle school students and teachers provided that they are helping in the enhancement of youth leadership. This foundation provides grants of $500 for the requests of teachers.

There are countless other foundations that offer grants for the development of youth leadership. Keep in mind, however, that you need to present your case well, research the requirements for the project proposals and make sure that you adhere to the requirements. If your write up does not match the requirements needed by the grant provider, your proposal might go straight to the bin. But if you package it well and enunciate clearly what you want to do with the grant money, then you just might get it.

When you receive the money, thank the provider of the grant and make sure that you use the money for what it was intended for.
